What is really going on

As some may have noticed, my site has had “we are moving over the next week” for a while now. So what’s going on?

We have NOT moved yet actually. Our 30-day escrow hit the 60-day mark early this week and we’ve been hearing “it will be tomorrow” for about a month now. Well today should really be the day we sign the papers, which means we should have the keys by Friday or maybe Monday, at which point we can start moving in. Just for clarification, the delay is due to Countrywide, not us, and they have even waived all escrow and per diem fees due to their “gross mis-management”.

On another frustrating front, our telephone, cable AND INTERNET services have been turned off, because even though we called Verizon again to push back the date of our move, they messed up again and turned it off anyway. So I am working from home using my modem that works off of cell service, which is only slightly faster than dial-up on a strong signal. Problem is, cell service in our current home is very weak (only 1 bar at best).

What all this means is that with intermittent service and (finally) moving, things will be slow and there will be delays in responding and getting things to you. I know you’re probably thinking that things have already been slow. Well, this entire process has been extremely stressful for all of us and came at a very poor time in relation to work stuff (trying to catch up from the holidays) and we are doing our best. No one could have anticipated the problems we are encountering so we’re taking it one day at a time.

And now, every single person in our household is sick. Our son has a fever that spikes up to 103 regularly and then the rest of us have horrible coughs and head congestion. Our youngest is 9 months and needs to be held a lot during this time, plus sleep for all of us is not readily available.

If you’ve made it this far, thank you. I do apologize for the delays over the last two months. The good news is I have a brand new scheduling and billing system that I’m hoping will be ready in the next two weeks that will help keep design projects going while giving both myself and our clients information about the status of their project at any time. In addition, I am looking for someone local to come work in our home office with us for a few days a week. So once we’re settled in the new house, things will be better and I can get back up to the level of customer service that I had before.

Thanks and please cross your fingers that we sign today and get this move over with soon!

EDITED TO ADD: We signed today! So we’ll be getting the keys hopefully Friday. My husband needs to pull the old carpet and install the wood floors over the weekend then we’ll be moving in starting Monday. :) Our internet service is scheduled for next Thursday so I may be on dial-up-speed until then. :(
